How Does It Work?
The concept of using heat in pest control is already applied when you place clothes and linens into the dryer on a high temperature setting, or when steaming sofas, rugs, and other items clean. However, this type of heat application cannot always be scaled up for treatment of entire living space – after all, mattresses do not fit into the average dryer. Thermal heating programs offer some of the latest and most efficient technology in insect remediation, especially for people dealing with insect issues in urban areas. A complex combination of generators, heaters and fans are used to bring internal temperatures of an apartment or house up to an ambient level of 140 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature is unsustainable for many types of pests, including bed bugs, and therefore an effective treatment can be completed within the span of a single treatment. M&M technicians closely monitor this process and the temperatures reached. Depending on the square footage and height of a residence, this process can take anywhere from 4 – 8 hours.
